The 2017 Tesla Model S has been in the running for Motor Trend Car of the Year and it isn’t the first time as it took the title in 2013. The Chevrolet Bolt has been right alongside it for a shot at the title but the Chevrolet Volt wasn’t among them.
The 2017 Tesla Model S and Chevrolet Bolt both stole the limelight when they made it through to finalists. The Chevrolet Volt however didn’t make it through to the finalists, even though it was in the contest.
This year it was the turn of the upgraded version of the Tesla Model S to be in for a shot at the title. It has the 60kWh battery which can be upgraded to the 75kWh by way of an OTA update. If you do go for the 60kWh version it is $8, 500 cheaper than if you go for the 75kWh but then if you do want to upgrade later on it is going to cost you $9,000.
Both the Tesla Model S and the Chevrolet Bolt EV are superb vehicles that should have been in the running for the title, but we were surprised that the Volt wasn’t there right along with them. This is due to the fact that it has been the second best-selling vehicle over in the US.
