2017 Tesla Model S And Chevrolet Bolt Don’t Leave Room For Volt

By  |

The 2017 Tesla Model S is no stranger to the Motor Trend Car of the Year award as it won it back in 2013. This year it has been given another chance at winning the award, as the 60/75kWh version has been put up for the award.

The Chevrolet Bolt EV made it onto the list too alongside the 2017 Tesla Model S but the two didn’t leave room for the Chevrolet Volt as it didn’t manage to make it to the finalists.

The Tesla Model S 60 is a superb vehicle of course and it happens to be the best upgrade from the 60kWh to the 75kWh. You can get the 60kWh for less and save $8, 500 and you can make the upgrade at any time. However it is going to cost you $9,000 to make that upgrade.

It was great to see both the Tesla Model S and the Chevrolet Bolt EV make it to the finals but it was a shame that the Chevy Volt didn’t make it as after all it has been the second best seller in electric vehicles in the US.

It should be unnecessary to point out that while the Volt is a plug in vehicle it is also a hybrid and as such it stands on its merits insofar as the Motor Trend Car of the Year award. In other words every vehicle qualifies for the Motor Trend Car of the Year award and not just EV’s and/or PHEV’s which includes all ICEV’s. Anyway the 2017 Chevrolet Bolt has been designated as the 2017 Motor Trend Car of the Year award.
