While no one thinks of crossovers being particularly fast, if a crossover is faster than the competition then you are going to more likely to go for it. The 2017 Subaru Forester 2.0XT falls into this category and the vehicle offers up a cabin with more room than the competition.
The 2016 Subaru Forester offering the naturally aspirated 2.5 litre engine and offering 170 horses was tested last year. It went from standing still to 60mph in 8.7 seconds, which put it behind the competition. With the 2 litre turbocharged engine it offers 250 horses the 2017 Subaru Forester managed to do the same in just 6.8 seconds. The Forester managed to beat four cylinder competitors offering outputs that are similar, including the 2017 Ford Escape EcoBoost AWD and the 2017 Kia Sportage SX Turbo AWD.
The 2017 Subaru Forester also left other big players in its wake, including the Honda CR-V AWD and the Mazda CX-5. It even managed to match the V6 2016 Jeep Cherokee with an extra 20 horses.
So it does look like the 2017 Subaru Forester beats the CR-V and the CX-5 to take the lead for speed and roominess in the cabin.
