The 2017 Nissan Leaf sales have been falling around the globe but yes you read the title right, the vehicle has set a sales record.

It seems that in 2016 in Japan the sales of the 2017 Nissan Leaf have been the most successful ever. This could be the biggest reason why Nissan hasn’t been rushing to show us the next generation of the Leaf, which the car maker says is coming soon.

The 2017 Nissan Leaf with its 30kWh battery arrived in Japan in February last year and it set a sales record when it made 2, 819 deliveries. Now we have found out that the vehicle also set a sales record for the entire year. In December the sales ended in 1, 323, which is a 21% rise year over year.

A total of 14, 795 units of the 2017 Nissan Leaf were sold in 2016 and this is a record breaking 63% more than the previous year and 4% more than the record the car maker set in 2014.

Since the Nissan Leaf arrived in Japan in 2010 it has sold around 72,500 units.
