2017 Jeep Wrangler: Is This The Ultimate Defender Killer?

By  |

The Land Rover Defender may be one unbeatable rival, but as soon as we heard about the 2017 Jeep Wrangler Africa could be coming out instead, it looks so rad that it could just be the one to bring the Defender down (for good). But does Jeep really have what it takes to reign the truck empire here?

If you could notice from the picture above, the Jeep Wrangler is to be a 4-door-based vehicle that’s sporting a Desert Tan exterior paint, a high-clearance steel front bumper with winch and also some power dome-vented hood, among others. Under the hood that’s powering this truckload of beauty, it’s a 2.8-litre diesel engine mated to an automatic transmission, so there’s that to look forward to.

Aside from that, we could all be expecting for the Wrangler Africa to be outfitted with a two-inch lift kit with Fox shocks, sway bar links and front and rear Dana 44 axles from Jeep Performance Parts. It’s also worth mentioning that its spare tire is located via an underbody-mounting, so the entire cargo area would look rather clean with ample of space for loading.

It seems capable to beat the Defender off, but we’re not entirely sure of that ever happening (but we’ve got to admit that the Jeep looks more appealing; much more appealing). What are your thoughts on this, though?

A spare tire underneath the vehicle ? That vehicle will get stuck on the trails I go on with my Wrangler. A 2.8l diesel is too small for a 5k lb vehicle. Put a 3.9L Cummins diesel in there.
