2017 Jeep Wrangler Could Kill Off Land Rover Defender

By  |

The Land Rover Defender is a vehicle that hasn’t had a great deal of challenges. Things could be about to change though with the arrival of the Jeep Wrangler Africa when it comes to the market with a Desert Tan paintjob and four doors. The vehicle is going to offer up high clearance along with winch, vented hood and steel front bumpers.

The Jeep Wrangler engine is the 2.8 litre diesel and this is going to be automatic. It should come with Fox shocks and the two inch lift kit with Dana 44 axles on the back and the front. It is also said to be coming with sway bar links and Jeep Performance Parts.

The Jeep Wrangler may just have what is needed for it to be able to kill off the Land Rover Defender but what do you think?

If you think the Jeep Africa is a authentic challenger to the Defender; you’re missing the most important fact. Every Defender is a fully capable vehicle, they don’t need a warehouse of modified special parts in order for them to perform as designed. With enough money, engineering time, and parts even a Mini Clubman could be considered a contender to the Defender. The big problem with jeep is that no-one knows what a “jeep is”. If you say your driving a jeep that could mean anything from a grocery cart to this full blown Africa model. And how does the Rubicon buyer now feel; knowing jeep just admitted there are deficiencies with the Rubicon and it really isn’t what they presented. I owned several Defenders, they are very purposeful, even primitive, vehicles but there is no confusion regarding the identity. If you say I own a Defender; no-one has to ask ” is it the off-road kind”. One of the core values of every Land Rover vehicle is Authenticity, Defender is an un-compromised testament to that core value..
