The global ambitions of Jeep rest with the 2017 Jeep Compass as the Compass is aimed to take over the market globally, so it will do what the Wrangler cannot, as the latter has been targeted towards the market in the US.
Jeep has been pushing the 2017 Jeep Compass big style and they plan on launching the Jeep Wrangler later on this year. The 2017 Compass is the product of a makeover that started back in 2010 and the head of Jeep brand FCA Global said that they want to build the sales to 1.9 million by 2018.
Global deliveries of the vehicle hit the 1.4 million mark in 2016 and this was up by 13% year over year, with sales of 1 million in North America. Manley said that the global upside is huge.
Later on this year Jeep plan to add on the high performance Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk to the line-up and this is then to be followed by the new Wrangler. Before this the Jeep Compass is going to take centre stage and the first production begins now, followed by a marketing launch that will happen in the second quarter, with it being fully available by May.
The new 2017 Jeep Compass is going to be sold along with the older version, with the new 2018 Compass filling up the inventory as part of the summer model changeover. The executives warned that the monthly sales are going to look poor during the first part of the year, but this is only until the new model gets fully stocked.
Jeep is confident that the 2017 Jeep Compass will make up ground and within 7 months of it being on sale it should equal the model that is outgoing. It was said that the Compass has been designed and built for the global market and the vehicle will be a significant contributor to volume not just in the US but around the world.
