The 2017 Hyundai Ioniq has shown the Toyota Prius just how much it really sucks as the Ioniq really outdoes the Prius for offering up the better fuel economy.

The EPA rating of the 2017 Toyota Ioniq has been given for the three different variations, the plug-in, hybrid and the Ioniq Electric.

The Toyota Prius offers up 50mpg if you are driving on the highway, 54mpg when driving around the city and a combination of 52mpg. The 2017 Hyundai Ioniq offers up 54mpg out driving on the highway, 55mpg if you take a spin around the city and 55mpg combined. If you do a lot of driving on the highway then the Prius is beaten by a large amount.

The plug-in Blue version of the Ioniq gave 59mpg when on the highway, 57mpg in the city and 58mpg combined. On electric it gives you 31mpg.

The Ioniq Eletric offers up 124 miles range in total and an MPGe of 122 when out on the highway, 150 when city driving and 136 combined. Bear in mind that some vehicles do give you a lot more as they offer up over 200 miles. We are expecting to see an Hyundai Ioniq come our way offering up a range of more than 200 miles in 2018.

So if you have been trying to choose between the Toyota Prius and the Hyundai Ioniq you now know which of the two gives the better fuel economy.
