2017 Honda Ridgeline vs Colorado vs Tacoma vs Frontier: Tough Battle

By  |

Now if there isn’t any bombarding headlines about the 2017 Honda Ridgeline, you’re probably on the wrong side of the Internet. This truck debuted at the Detroit show recently, and while it rightfully deserves to, we can’t overlook the very tough competition it has ahead of it with the Toyota Tacoma, Nissan Frontier and Chevrolet Colorado.

When comparing them side by side, the Chevrolet Colorado has the most horsepower, while the Nissan Frontier the most torque, so the Honda Ridgeline has nothing to brag in these departments. And moving on to towing payload, the Chevrolet Colorado once again beats out the Honda Ridgeline and the remainder mid-size trucks thanks to its 7,000lbs.

But while the Honda Ridgeline won’t have the heaviest payload its design will support for the widest payload loading in the truck bed. So there’s one point for the Ridgeline and putting it ahead of the Toyota Tacoma which is yet to get any points.

In terms of safety the Toyota Tacoma has blind spot monitoring but the Honda Ridgeline bests it and the other trucks with that plus a few other top-end safety features like lane departure warning. So overall the 2017 Honda Ridgeline isn’t crushing the competition but has its merits. What are your thoughts on this, though?
