2017 Kia Rio GT: A Ford Focus RS Killer In The Works

By  |

While the Kia Pro Ceed has been running circles around the Ford Fiesta ST over in Europe, there are now plans for a Ford Focus RS killer from the Korean giant.

Rumored to be based on the Kia Rio platform but with a turbocharged cannon under the hood, the Kia Rio GT may give the Ford Focus RS a run for its money when it arrives here in the US.

We have seen the Ford Focus RS compared to bigger vehicles such as the Subaru WRS STi so it will be interesting to see how it handles against something that is smaller and as such probably lighter.

The Kia Rio of course isn’t synonymous with racing or speed so we can expect that a GT version wouldn’t just feature internal upgrades but something on the exterior to to differentiate it from the original hatchback.

Would you consider a Kia Rio GT if it costs less than a Ford Focus RS but a drive just as fun? Sound off in the comments below.
