2016 Kia Sorento Gets Waze Android Auto Integration

By  |

One of the must have features in vehicles of today is Android Auto as the tech allows the owner of the vehicle to use their Android smartphone with the vehicles infotainment system. This means they can play music from their handset along with using maps and talking hands free.

Android Auto means that there isn’t a need to purchase a sat-nav as owners can use Google Maps, which is always up to date. Many drivers prefer to use Waze, which is also owned by Google. This however has been pending for Android Auto but it is said to be heading our way later on in the year.

If you have the 2016 Kia Sorento there is some good news though as there is a work around that allows you to get Waze on Android Auto right now.

Before you plug-in your phone to the infotainment system you need to run Waze on the device and leave it open.

You can then plug the phone into the infotainment system and then open up Android Auto.

Turn the display of the phone on and then head to the home screen of the handset and make a swipe from the top of the phones display to drag down the notification panel.

You will see Waze is running in the notification area and you can tap on it. Waze will then come up on the display of the phone and the Android Auto stuff remains on the cars screen.

This can be done with any Android Auto car. I’ve been doing it for nearly a year now with my 16 Civic.
