Xiaomi is well-known for offering up devices that are not only excellent for their battery life and they are affordable. However buyers in the US can only get their hands on one of the two handsets. Huawei and ZTE are two more competitors that offer up handsets in the market in the US, this might not be an issue for too much longer.
The VP of Xiaomi said that he wants smartphones to be able to reach buyers in the US soon, but then that term is a loose one. At the moment there isn’t a timetable for this to happen, however it may eventually happen in time.
Gaining entry into the US may prove to be difficult though and evidence of this can be seen with the OnePlu One and 2 as both of these handsets are great but owners of them have complained about poor software support. The OnePlus X has also had issues with some of the most important network bands in the US.
The OnePlus 3 may end up being different though, however at the moment this isn’t the case and this is something that Xiaomi will know about. Expectations of consumers in the US are very different from those in any other regions as they generally like to get a great deal of support.
It is thought that patent acquisitions might be one issue for the company but then the company has filed for more patents than perhaps any other OEM. This is also going to be something that Xiaomi will be considering.
