Going into 2013 the future is all about consoles and phones that come with octa-core processors. While this may have been a crazy idea when it started, it is reality now as details keep emerging about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S4, along with the Microsoft Xbox 720.
Samsung Galaxy S4 & Xbox 720 chipset rumors
Gizmodo have said that rumours are flying around about the next gen console having an 8 core 1.6GHz processor which will be backed up by a 768-thread GPU. This would mean that the console would have 1.2 teraflops of power in regards to processing. This doesn’t seem to be overkill thanks to some of the latest games such as GTA 5 and more showing us just what consoles will be put through in the years to come.
Samsung showed off their Exynos 8 core processor at the CES and with it blew all rumours out of the water about a handset being equipped with 8 cores. Whether or not the Samsung Galaxy S4 will need an 8 core processor remains to be seen. This has been called nothing but a publicity stunt by the CEO of Qualcomm. It is however more believable than it being in the Xbox 720 as there has not been any physical evidence of such hardware.
So can you imagine how things may turn out if the Xbox 720 doesn’t have the 8 cores but the Samsung Galaxy S4 does??
