The Volvo XC90 has revealed to the Audi Q7 and the BMW X5 how things are done and the vehicle is more than qualified to do it as it has helped to revive the Volvo brand name.
Geely invested $11 billion four years ago into the brand name and some of the money was used for developing the engine plant and the rest was used for the development of the SPA platform.
The Volvo XC90 and S90 have been enjoying increases in sales over in the US with sales having risen by 259%. Right now the XC90 is four years old but soon it is going to be the oldest vehicle among the line-up.
The Volvo boss recently talked about the fact that he wanted to produce 100,000 vehicles by 2018 at the plant in South Carolina. He talked about the partnership between Uber and themselves too.
Both Uber and Volvo have been looking into autonomous driving and the vehicle of choice has been the Volvo XC90. This was seen driving around in Pittsburgh in tests.
Only three years again Volvo said that they wanted to be known as the top tier brand. They set themselves a target of 800,000 sales of vehicles each year globally. They have sold 425,000, which means that the sales have doubled in four years. They say that they are still on track to meet the target.
