The Volvo XC90 has been providing how to lessons to the BMW X5 and the Audi Q7 and of course the vehicle is more than qualified to do this as it managed to help revive the Volvo brand.
Four years back Geely invested $11 billion into the Volvo brand and part of the investment was used for development of the engine plant, while the remainder was put to the development of the SPA platform.
Both the Volvo XC90 and the S90 have managed to enjoy sales increases and in the US the increase in sales has been 259%. At the moment the XC90 is only four years old but in 18 months it will be known as the oldest in the Volvo line-up.
The boss of Volvo spoke up and made a bold claim as he said that by 2018 he wants to be producing 100,000 vehicles over at the plant in South Carolina. He also talked about the successful partnership between themselves and Uber.
Volvo and Uber are doing research into autonomous driving and the Volvo XC90 has taken part in tests and was seen in Pittsburgh.
Volvo said three years ago that they would like to be known as a top tier brand and they set a target of 800,000 vehicles to sell per year around the globe. Up to now 425,000 vehicles have sold and the brand has doubled the sales in four years. However Volvo insists that they are still on target.
