Volvo has revealed some interesting details about the upcoming Volvo XC40. Here is what we know so far.

The new Volvo XC40 will be the first vehicle to come riding on the Compact Modular Architecture platform. The vehicle will also be powered by the new three-cylinder Drive E engine from Volvo. It is the first three-cylinder engine from Volvo.

Volvo also added that the engine was designed to be integrated with its Twin Engine plug-in hybrids which means the XC40 will also come with a PHEV model. The automaker also confirms that the 1.5-liter direct injection engine will not be making its way to the US.

The Volvo XC40 PHEV should be arriving at the end of this year. Price and availability will be announced later. What we do know now is that the vehicle will be the first to be offered under their Care by Volvo service which will include insurance, service, and maintenance for 24 months.
