Although SUVs and Crossovers seem to be the only models that the consumers are interested in right now, the Volkswagen Touareg just can’t seem to make an impact here in the US and after years of trying, Volkswagen will finally give up and remove the Touareg from the US lineup.

The last straw was probably the huge 26% drop in sales in the first half of 2017 as they only sold 1630 units of the Volkswagen Touareg. Some people believe that it was the huge price tag that might have put a lot of people off the Touareg but that is just one of the many reasons why the vehicle did not work out here.

The Volkswagen Touareg base model retails for $50,405 while the top of the range model will come in with a $61,105 price tag. With the Touareg gone, Volkswagen will be filling up the empty spot with the new Tiguan model. There is also going to be a new compact crossover that will come sitting below the Tiguan.
