Volkswagen Electric Vehicle Could Show Tesla Model 3 Is Explicitly Priced

By  |

There is no getting away from the fact that electric cars are not cheap to own and this even applies to the entry level of the Nissan Leaf. Electric vehicles are improving though as they now offer upwards of 200 mile driving range, but still the price tag is high.

The Tesla Model 3 and the Chevrolet Bolt EV both come in at around $30,000. One car maker that isn’t too happy about the high price tag of electric vehicles is Volkswagen and it looks as though they are going to do something about it.

Volkswagen believes that electric vehicles should have a price tag the same as any other vehicle. They want them to be affordable and say that an electric vehicle should come with a price tag of around $20,000.

Of course many people will say that this isn’t going to be possible due to the price of EV powertrains. However Volkswagen did make it quite clear that they are going to expose EV cars for being expensive, despite the fact that they are marketed as being affordable.

The car maker is going to be adding their first electric vehicle to the lineup and they say that it will offer up a similar driving range along with being priced the same as a typical car.
