It might strike as a surprise for some because Android devices are actually a minority when it comes to running the Android 6.0 Marshmallow. And obviously this includes Google’s Nexus devices, some HTCs, Motorola and LG, with Samsung almost always taking a longer time to receive the update (and let’s not forget about carriers as well, they are the last).
We hear about Samsung’s plans for the Marshmallow update on some of their devices, though there still isn’t any confirmation yet. But the latest rumour that has been circling around the tech industry has it that the company has approved the update, so devices – probably starting with the unlocked ones – would get to receive their official updates soon. That being said, there’s actually a few S5 phones that have already been updated, so the official release should only be a matter of time.
If you have been wondering why carriers like Verizon or AT&T are taking a longer time than usual to receive the updates, it’s most probably because they would have it tested on their own variants first. But if the latest leak proves to be true, then the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ would be first in line to receive the official update that will be released.
Well, for what it’s worth, we’ll just have to wait patiently for the official release. Let’s keep our fingers crossed in hoping that they’ll arrive as soon as possible.
