Verizon Galaxy S3 Jelly Bean Update: Here We Go Again

By  |

Owners of the Samsung Galaxy S3 who are with AT&T, Sprint, Verizon or T-Mobile have been enjoying the Jelly Bean update for the Samsung Galaxy S3. It seems just yesterday though when the 4 top US carriers were on the race to see who would be the first to get the update. Surprisingly it was the largest carrier in the US, Verizon, who crossed the line in last place.

Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3 & Android 4.2 update

The Verizon Jelly Bean update did leak on the net in September and many people thought that Verizon would offer it to Samsung Galaxy S3 users soon after. However the update went out to other carriers and Verizon didn’t offer it. Thanks to them being the largest carrier in the US, this upset many people.

To make matters even worse, all the carriers in Canada and Australia got the update already, along with owners of the Samsung Galaxy S3 in many other regions of the world.

As Android 4.1.1 comes with the usual Verizon bloatware, it is thought that this could the reason for delays.

AT&T Samsung Galaxy S3 customers were happy that they were not the last to get the update, they got the update through Kies, why not OTA is anyone’s guess.

Those on Verizon have finally got the update to Jelly Bean, but now the race and wait is on for Jelly Bean 4.2. The update will bring owners such features as Photo Sphere and Gesture Typing. Verizon was the last to offer the 4.1 update and it will be interesting to see if the same thing will happen with the Android 4.2 update. Bear in mind that right now the LG Nexus 4 is well ahead while the Verizon Samsung Galaxy Nexus is still 3 updates behind its successor.
