Verizon Motorola X: July 8th, $299, Stock Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie (Rumor)

A Droid-Life reader has handed them some info that they are not quite sure what to make of. A forum member who has been known to be a good source of information from Motorola has posted details about the X device that is rumoured to be the next big thing from Motorola. It may sound a little too good to be true, however it is worth sharing so that you can attack it, make fun of it, daydream or drool just what it may be like.

Motorola X Android 5.0 KLP rumors

Word is that the Motorola X will be revealed in May at the Google I/O and the current date for release of the handset is set for 8th July. Of course this would be subject to change. It seems that all carriers will have the X phone and with Verizon it would cost you $299 on contract. All version of the handset will be sold through the Google Play Store too, with a price that is similar to the Nexus line-up, which is off contract. It has also been said that you can get the unlocked bootloader with Verizon and you will have to pay a monthly fee of $15.

If you purchase the device from Google Play, the handset will be unlocked and there isn’t a fee. While the handset is not a Nexus device, it will come with the stock Android with bloatware, which can be removed when the device is unlocked.

It sounds too good to be true, an X phone that is available on all carriers and which runs the stock Android and will be in the Google Play Store for a cheap price, with an unlockable boootloader. While this is the stuff of dreams it could work out as with Google at the helm, Motorola may be going big. After all the company do have lots of ground to cover if they want to catch up with the rest of the players on Android.
