US Samsung Galaxy S2 Gets Jelly Bean Treat: AT&T, Sprint, US Cellular, Virgin Mobile

By  |

And we’re off! After many months of waiting, US Samsung Galaxy S2 users are finally seeing Android 4.1 Jelly Bean coming their way. The lucky users include those under AT&T, Sprint, US Cellular and Virgin Mobile.

For the Sprint Samsung Galaxy S2 (Epic), Sprint themselves have confirmed the rollout. For the AT&T version, we got tipped today that many of our AT&T readers have begun to get notifications of a major update. As for Virgin Mobile and US Cellular, the respective carriers have confirmed so.

That pretty much sums up all the major US Samsung Galaxy S2 carriers and is good news for those who have stuck by the aging Android all this while. Given that the Samsung Galaxy S3 is about to get trumped by the Galaxy S4 next month, it is surprising that the S2 is getting any attention at all from Samsung.

Of course this is Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and not Android 4.2.2, the current latest. Rumor has it that the Samsung Galaxy S2 will eventually get Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean but as for Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie, it may be out of the question.
