Apple may be about to launch an updated version of their iPad 3 which could be called the New iPad, at the iPad Mini event which is to be held this coming Tuesday. Upgraded iPad 3 to join iPad Mini launch next week?
The updated iPad 3 could come with the Lightning connector and will have more of a global 4G LTE connectivity. DigiTimes said that this device would come with a simpler design and the amount of LED chips used for backlighting the device could be reduced.
This news has surfaced days following Apple being sued over the use of LED in the iPad 3, along with the MacBook Pro by LED Tech, who have named Apple in the suit for patent infringement. They claim that the products of Apple have infringed on their patents relating to “apparatus of controlling and powering a solid-state light source such as a light-emitting diode or LED, for a portable battery-powered flashlight.”
The iPad Mini is thought to be launching at the same event as the updated iPad 3, along with a 13 inch Retina display MacBook Pro, a Mac Mini and possibly a thinner iMac. The event will be held on 23rd October.
