The world of smartphones is going to begin getting wild with the Motorola event and it will then continue on through September. It’s not only Motorola who have plans, Samsung will be revealing their Galaxy Note 2 and there have been many rumours surrounding the next Nexus. HTC have a 1080p handset to come and LG have many handsets coming our way. Then there is of course the iPhone 5.
Upcoming phones 2012: Motorola DROID RAZR HD, iPhone 5, Samsung Galaxy Note 2…
Verizon and Motorola will be unveiling two 4G LTE handsets on 5th September and although there is no hard evidence there are signs that one of these will be the Droid Razr HD and the second is thought to be the Droid Razr M. It is thought that the Razr HD will come with an HD display of 4.6 inches and it will have ICS, 1GB of RAM, a 2530mAh battery, NFC support and it will run on the Snapdragon 1.5GHz dual core processor. While the device is set to be announced there is no indication of when the devices will be available. The Motorola DROID Razr M is middle of the range and should cost around $149 with a 2 year contract. It will have the 1.5GHz dual core processor, 1GB of RAM; have ICS, NFC and a qHD 4.3 inch display.
The Galaxy Note 2 from Samsung should be revealed at the Berlin event which begins tomorrow. It is thought to have an HD Super AMOLED display of 5.5 inches, an 8 megapixel camera, run on Jelly Bean and have as 1.4GHz Exynos quad core processor.
The 1080p handset of HTC should have a 5 inch display and there has been very little information about the device since there was mention of the benchmark back in July. The benchmark tests did show that the device should have a 1080p display and it may have the new Snapdragon S4 Pro quad core and 4G LTE. There are rumours going around that the handset will be released in September, but at the moment nothing has been said from HTC.
In the coming months we may see more than one Google Nexus handset to be released. It is thought that these may come from Sony, LG and Samsung and the devices may be the Xperia Nexus, Optimus Nexus and the Galaxy Nexus 2 a.k.a Galaxy “Superior”.
LG are launching two handsets, the Intuition and the Spectrum 2. The Intuition is the Optimus Vu with a new name and it has a 5 inch display. The Spectrum 2 is otherwise known as the Optimus LTE2 around the world.
Finally September should see the release of the new iPhone and you have to ask whether the release of the iPhone 5 will have any effect on the release of any of the above Android handsets? One thing is for sure – with the huge amount of handsets coming our way, anyone upgrading will have plenty of choice.
