September has gone smartphone mad! The Samsung Galaxy Note 2, the LG Optimus G, Droid RAZR HD Maxx and even the iPhone 5 are already out of the bag and we can possibly expect even more. There is supposed to be no fewer than four rumoured Nexus devices, a new HTC 1080p phone, edge-free Motorola Android and more.
Upcoming phones 2012: Edge-free Motorola RAZR, 4 Nexus devices, HTC…
Motorola unveiled its Droid RAZR HD MAXX, along with its 4.7” screen, 1.5GHz dual-core chip and that huge 3,300mAh battery. It also showed us the RAZR M, which is smaller (4.3” screen) and runs on Ice Cream Sandwich. There are also rumors of another RAZR now that’s going to be truly bezel-free – that’s right, a true edge-to-edge display.
Next up – HTC and its new 1080p phone which may or may not have a 5” screen. This is all we know about it, although some benchmark tests in July make it seem as if it’ll have a quad-core chip and 4G LTE. This phone will be unveiled later in September and will be available through Verizon.
Google is getting busy, with plans to release several new handsets, from LG, Sony and Samsung supposedly. These devices may be called the Xperia Nexus, Galaxy Nexus 2 (or the Superior) and the Optimus Nexus. Google has five new Nexus devices in the works this year, but has revealed just one – the Google Nexus 7 – up to now.
Lastly we have the HP Bender. Nothing much is known about the rumored HP Bender other than a leak from a benchmark site showing that it runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and boasts a 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor.
