Toyota Prius May Be On Its Last Generation

By  |

Due to the fact that more and more electric vehicles are coming our way offering up more than 300 miles, we could be on the last generation of the Toyota Prius. This is down to the fact that the vehicle simply cannot compete any longer.

Toyota know this and so they set up an in-house venture company so that staff can concentrate on coming up with an electric vehicle that will be able to compete. Toyota of course has been working on fuel cell technology along with hybrids but they revealed that they will launch an electric vehicle by 2020.

The in-house company has been made up of staff from four of Toyotas companies and they are going to be working apart from the management structures so they will be able to concentrate on the electric vehicles research and development.

Toyota will design a vehicle that can offer up a range of 300 miles or more and they want to launch the vehicle in Japan by 2020. While they will still work on fuel cell vehicles as the Mirai is said to be the ultimate in eco-cars, they do know that they have to go into electric vehicles to compete.

So this may be the last generation of the Toyota Prius.
