According to sources, they sent out a note to their clients and analyst Scott Craig said that speculation was heightening that Deutche Telecom would be making an announcement over the arrival of the iPhone 5, which is said to be imminent. Deutche Telecom of course owns T-Mobile USA.
The analyst said that the announcement of a T-Mobile iPhone 5 will be announced during one of their day meetings that will be taking place over the 6th and 7th of December.
T-Mobile has not yet started to roll out their LTE network; however they have devoted a lot of their time to updating their HSPA+ network so as to ensure that it will be compatible with the current models of iPhone. A launch of the iPhone 5 on T-Mobile could mean another 33 million subscribers to Apple market within the US. At the moment Apple have access to around 98% of post-paid wireless subscribers in the US.
While the T-Mobile iPhone 5 would theoretically have dismal LTE coverage, the pink carrier’s unlimited 3G data plans come in cheaper than those of Sprint and hence would attract iPhone fans either way. Verizon and A&T of course have stopped offering unlimited data plans.
