Thankfully T-Mobile’s CEO has already confirmed that we would be seeing the iPhone 5 available on the network this year. However what he didn’t confirm was exactly when it would arrive in stores.
T-Mobile iPhone 5 release date tipped for inside March-April window
Earlier this month during CES week, he did state that they dropped the release window down to within the next 3 to 4 months, instead of 6 to 9 months as originally planned. Now we may have more information that may narrow this release date window even more.
TMoNews said that T-Mobile employees have been informed of a 4-week blackout period ranging from the last two weeks of March to the first two of April. Now as we have seen in the past few years, the term “blackout” has always been associated with Apple product releases, in particular the iPhone. This is because initial demand for the handset upon launch is usually unpredictable. As such, T-Mobile’s first blackout has us thinking the iPhone 5 is to be launched inside of that window.
We’ve seen both Verizon and AT&T do this with their employees so a March-April blackout is pretty solid evidence for a T-Mobile iPhone 5 launch. Coincidentally, T-Mobile are also ending their subsidies around that time so the iPhone 5 may only be available at a higher retail price tag.
