With electric vehicles offering up a range of 300 miles, the Toyota Prius is struggling to keep up. This may mean that the vehicle could reach the end of its life span very soon.

Toyota knows that they have to release an electric vehicle that is able to offer up a good range and take on vehicles offering a 300 mile range. In the past Toyota has put all their focus onto fuel cell vehicles along with hybrid vehicles but they do realise that they have to come up with a vehicle that is electric that can compete.

Toyota has come up with an in-house company so that staff can focus on researching and the development of a brand new electric vehicle. However at the same time they won’t be giving up on fuel cell technology.

The Toyota Mirai has the name of being the ultimate in eco-cars, something which Toyota is proud of. Toyota has said that they will launch an electric vehicle in Japan by 2020 and when it is launched it could be the end of the Toyota Prius.
