It has been said that Google are going to officially drop support for the Nexus 5 and we have had plenty of complaints from the fans who have love for the stock Android handset. This is due to the fact that owners were hoping that the handset would be given the update to Android 7.0 Nougat.
There is more worry for the Nexus 5 though as in November the monthly security updates for the handset are going to stop.
Of course this means that essentially the Nexus 5 is going to be dead. While Google is continuing to offer security patches for the handset, it means that they are taking care of it and it remains alive and well. However when they stop it dies off.
Of course just because Google isn’t going to be offering anymore updates for the Nexus 5 it doesn’t mean that its dead altogether. This is due to the fact that there is the unofficial CM14 ROM available for flashing onto the handset. Of course without getting monthly security patches it does mean that the phone is vulnerable in the future.
