Word is going round that Google could be about to drop official support for the Nexus 5 soon but this has caused anger among the many fans of the handset. Owners of the device want to get their hands on Android 7.0 Nougat of course.
In November the monthly security updates for the Nexus 5 are stopping and this means that the handset could be over. At the moment Google is offering up security patches for the device but when these stop the handset will meet its demise.
The good news is that while Google might be stopping updates of the Nexus 5, the handset isn’t going to die and go away. This is thanks to developers and the CM14 ROM that owners can flash to their handset to keep it breathing.
This isn’t going to give the handset the monthly security patches though and so the Nexus 5 is going to be somewhat vulnerable when Google stops offering them.
