The EV Charging Network Count In Japan Is Misleading

By  |

We have heard reports about Japan having the widest EV charging network around the globe and this means that the country offers up more charging stations than anywhere else.

On looking into this we have found out that the reports may actually be misleading. Gas stations typically have more than just one pump and this means that cars can be filled up within minutes. Charging stations however are just one single point and to charge an EV it can take many hours.

Therefore the calculations are somewhat biased and the reports shouldn’t be taken too literally. We are going to see the time arrive when the number of electric charging stations will overtake the number of gas stations, but this isn’t going to happen anytime in the near future.
