The original plan was to have a bespoke platform for the upcoming Tesla Model Y but Tesla has now revealed that they will be using the Tesla Model 3 platform instead which will not only save cost but it will also mean that we might actually see the Model Y earlier than expected.

The Tesla Model Y was originally set to be released in 2019 or early 2020 but that was when Tesla wanted to give the vehicle a new platform. Now that Tesla has decided to use the Model 3 platform, we could be seeing the Tesla Model Y earlier than expected since they don’t have to waste time on doing research and producing it from scratch.

With the demand for SUVs on the rise now, it made sense that Tesla would want to take advantage of that. There is not a whole lot of details about the Tesla Model Y right now but hopefully, we will hear more about it soon.
