It is possible that the Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid could be about to make a return as early as 2018. We say this as the car maker is going to have to be able to meet the zero emission standards of California that are coming into place by 2018.

Subaru did say that they do plan on making new hybrid engines so that they will meet the strict regulations and we could see this on the new Subaru Global Platform. The platform will allow for all vehicles to have hybrid powertrains, electric units and plug-in hybrids, along with other types of power units.

The first Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid was first offered up in 2016 but then it was axed in 2017. It seems that the vehicle was dropped as the sales were not as expected. However, the new Global Platform may be about to change all of this for 2018.

So it is looking as though the Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid may be making a comeback so stay tuned to find out if this is going to happen in 2018.
