Standard Kia Optima For US, Nice Stuff Saved For Overseas

By  |

Looks like US citizens are not getting the same treatment as their European counterparts when it comes to the Kia Optima Sportswagon. Kia recently unleashed the Optima before its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show, and it has been getting quite a lot of buzz lately.

You won’t be expecting much from the interior features as it’s very much similar to the current Optima sedan, meaning there’s a clean dashboard layout and seating for five. But how it outshines over the current Optima sedan would certainly come from the cargo space; measuring at 19.5 cubic feet (which is 3.6 cubic feet more than the brethren).

And when we said that the Americans are getting different treatment, we meant to say that they would just be offered the standard Kia Optima, because the nicer stuffs are reserved for the European market. Europeans are expected to be offered with three engines; a 2.0L four-cylinder producing 161 horsepower, 1.7 CRDi four-cylinder producing 139 horsepower and 251 lb-ft of torque, as well as a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder producing 240 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque.

See how it differs from country to country? Well, the reason being for US not getting what the Europeans are getting is because Americans always end up buying crossovers at an increased rate. What are your thoughts on this decision made by Kia?
