The Sony website has made it official that there is an Xperia SL and it will be available soon. The device which is the follow up to the Xperia S is said to have a 4.3 inch display. The handset is listed alongside the specs and full details and all of the initial leaks regarding the device have turned out to be correct.
Sony Xperia SL now official: Ice Cream Sandwich, dual-core Snapdragon
The Sony Xperia SL will be a refresh of the S, albeit a light one and it will come in two more colour options, pink and silver, along with black and white of the previous version. It will also have a 1.7GHz dual core Snapdragon processor, compared to the 1.5GHz of the previous model and it will have Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich as the operating system. No word yet if it will get Android 4.1 Jelly Bean anytime soon.
Everything else will be the same as the older model including it being media focused and having a display of 720pixels and a 12 megapixel camera. Now compared to the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S3, the Xperia SL’s biggest shortcoming would be its display.
No word yet on which carrier will pick it up here in the US but all eyes are on AT&T who seem to home of a number of Sony devices. Verizon may be in the cards too but these are all speculations only at the moment.
