Everyone believes that Sony will reveal the PS4 this week. An event has been scheduled for today, the 20th February, and over the weekend there has been a nostalgic look back at the life of the PS2 in video teases.
While many people are eager to get their hands on the PS4, there are some that are wondering what will happen to the PS3 once the next gen console arrives? Rumours have it that older games will not be playable on the next gen console. If this is so then the PS3 could be the choice for many gamers who have been left disappointed. It has been said that Sony could be about to have a price cut on the PS3.
Michael Pachter went on record to say that a price cut is on its way for the PS3 and he even went as far as saying that it would happen on 21st February. This would be one day after Sony revealed the next gen console, if they do. He thinks that Sony could drop the price of the PS3 to $199 and the new price could be seen in stores by the end of the week.
However would people want to pay out $199 for the PS3 when the PS4 will be coming out? If the next gen console doesn’t play old games then this would be a huge blow. For now we will have to wait until later today to find out what Sony reveal.
So would you move to the PS4 or would you be happy to remain with the PS3? More importantly, would it depend on whether the new console plays old games?
