There have been many rumours going around about Redguard being the next DLC to come out for Skyrim. This came about due to the fact that Bethesda trademarked the name.
Redguard was trademarked in 2011 and Bethesda has renewed the trademark ever since. The last time that this happened was on 7th February. So surely this means that they must have something in store for the name.
The trademark has said that it is “computer game software for use with computers and video game consoles; downloadable computer game software offered via the internet and wireless devices.” But there hasn’t been any mention about the platform that it could be released on.
In 1998 a game was linked with the Redguard name; however this wasn’t in the Elder Scrolls theme. The game focused on a many looking for his family. Some people have said that Bethesda trademarked the name due to this game. They would have had to trademark it for 15 years if this was so and this would have worked out very expensive.
Bethesda will be doing something with the name and there is a rumour that they will be revealing Elder Scrolls 6: Redguard. However it could be a DLC. It may be that there could be a main team working on the Elder Scrolls 6 game while a smaller ones works on the DLC.
If you cast your mind back to Oblivion you may remember that there was 10 DLCs for it, Skyrim of course comes with just three. Therefore we could see a lot more DLCs come out for Skyrim before we see Elder Scrolls. This is the reason why we think that Redguard could be in relation to a DLC.
Fans have been on Twitter talking about Redguard and this is what they say:
4th DLC for Skyrim is rumored to be called Redguard and may give you the ability to be king of all of skyrim! I hope it’s true! – @TommyNoble5643
Plus with the theory that the Redguard DLC is gonna be in Stros M’kai, it would be a perfect set up for a game in Hammerfell – @Jay_in_a_boat
Apparently bethesda recently renewed the trademark for Redguard, which fits with the whole two-words-together theme theyve got going on. – @fnool
Bear in mind that in the past Bethesda have not trademarked any of the factions or the locations. They have only trademarked DLCs and games. This is one reason why Redguard should have something to do with a new DLC or Elder Scrolls 6. The game may arrive on the next generation PS4 and Xbox 720 when they are released.
