Skyrim Dragonborn PS3 Release Date: Current Status

By  |

Bethesda told PS3 owners that they will be getting Dragonborn for the console at some point in early 2013. Owners have been waiting for a DLC to come their way as on the box of Skyrim it says that DLCs would be coming for the game. At the moment PS3 owners haven’t seen any, while owners of the Xbox 360 have 3 DLCs. As you can imagine PS3 owners are now fed up.

Skyrim Dragonborn PS3 release date (update)

Recently on Twitter Pete Hines and a PS3 owners had an interesting conversation. The results of which are not great news for owners of the console. Bethesda is not handing out information about Dragonborn DLC, which means that more than likely we will not see its release this month. Here is the Twitter conversation.

@DCDeacon when can we be expecting dragonborn on ps3 I’m so tired of this whole mess.

@Kyle_lobcity will get you a date as soon as I can.

@DCDeacon surely we deserve a bit more than that don’t you think? That’s the same answer we were getting for dawnguard. Look how that went..

@kyle_lobcity  no, we said we were still working on Dawnguard. We have committed to Dragonborn release. Just haven’t announced date yet — Pete Hines (@DCDeacon)

The last words came from the console owner who said that “This is just bulls—t”

All of the blame about lack of communication cannot be put on Hines of course. However Bethesda may have started to take things seriously, however Pete Hines cannot say anything without having the go ahead first. There is also the fact that the company might not yet have a release date for the Skyrim DLC because it is too soon (they said early 2012 so that could mean next month or even the following months after).

The conversation told us one thing and that is the fact that Dawnguard is on hold at the moment for the PS3, while the focus is on Dragonborn. This tells us that Bethesda will not release the DLCs together with some compensation for PS3 owners having to wait. This was a rumour that was going around as owners of the PS3 have been without any DLCs for so long that it was believed they would all come out weeks apart from each other.

Dawnguard will not come to the PS3 in the near future. Bethesda said they made the choice to release Dragonborn first as this was the easiest DLC and they did not want owners of the PS3 to have to wait any longer. Once they have released the DLC, they will then return to Dawnguard and Hearthfire.

Owners of the PS3 are fed up as they have been hearing the same thing over and over again since Dawnguard was brought out for the Xbox 360, back in June.

Bethesda seems to lack public relation skills. They totally disregard Skyrim questions and any information given out is vague. Fans ask specific questions and they do want specific answers.

Overs of the PS3 are again disappointed by Bethesda as they wait for their first DLC for Skyrim. Bethesda made it seems as though the content was coming soon, however for now there is no confirmation on just when this may happen. Of course owners of the PS3 paid just as much for Skyrim as owners of the Xbox 360 did and yet there has been no release of any DLCs to date. One PS3 gamer said that they would think twice before purchasing another game from Bethesda in the future.

For the time being the only DLC heading to the way of PS3 owners is Dragonborn, which should be on PS3 consoles in “early 2013”. This of course could mean any-time between now and mid-year. At the moment owners of the PS3 are expected to just wait and keep their fingers crossed that good news will come their way very soon.
