PS3 owners are still waiting for the first Skyrim DLC – Dragonborn – to get to their consoles. Bethesda has said that it’ll be with them in early 2013. PS3 owners have said that they expected the DLC a bit sooner, and that the Xbox 360 has got three DLC packs already.
PS3 Skyrim Dragonborn release date: January now unlikely
Pete Hines took to Twitter to talk to one particularly unhappy PS3 owner. The conversation didn’t end well, as Bethesda wasn’t able to say when the DLC will be out. This makes it look like February.
This is how the convo went:
@DCDeacon when can we be expecting dragonborn on ps3 I’m so tired of this whole mess.
@Kyle_lobcity will get you a date as soon as I can.
@DCDeacon surely we deserve a bit more than that don’t you think? That’s the same answer we were getting for dawnguard. Look how that went..
@kyle_lobcity no, we said we were still working on Dawnguard. We have committed to Dragonborn release. Just haven’t announced date yet — Pete Hines (@DCDeacon)
The exchange stopped abruptly when the PS3 owner called BS on Bethesda.
It’s not all Pete Hines’ fault, though, and Bethesda is working hard on it. Hines can’t give out information without the say-so of Bethesda, and there may not even be a set release date yet. The company has said early 2013, but this could, realistically, mean February, March or even April & May.
One thing the Twitter conversation did clarify, though, was that Bethesda has stalled Dawnguard for now, so there’ll be no joint release of the DLC after all.
A lot of PS3 owners are fed up with Bethesda playing this stuck record, as the company has been stalling since it released Dawnguard for the Xbox 360 in June last year. Bethesda needs to improve its PR skills, as it has dodged questions from gamers, occasionally throwing them vague bones. Direct questions deserve direct answers.
So, PS3 owners are disappointed once again while waiting for the DLC. If Bethesda would give them some sort of ball-park figure of when the DLC will be arriving, things wouldn’t be so bad. PS3 owners paid the same money as Xbox 360 players for Skyrim, but aren’t getting the same perks.
All we have to cling onto is the fact that Dragonborn will be out in early 2013. But early could mean any time before the middle of the year. PS3 fans shouldn’t hold their breath for the DLC, as it could be months yet. Bethesda gave Xbox 360 owners two weeks’ notice before the Dragonbrn DLC came to them, so given that it’s now past mid-January, we could be looking at February at the earliest.
