The next release from Bethesda in the Skyrim DLCs could be just months away. Bethesda has trademarked the title Redguard which led to news about the expansion quickly spreading all over the internet. Pete Hines has been talking on Twitter answering questions about the release date of Skyrim Redguard.
At the moment there is nothing to confirm that the title will be Redguard and when it will be released is still a mystery. Bethesda has history and from this we can guess what to expect. In the past they have trademarked their titles before announcing the DLC. Based on the release of DLC launches Redguard could be revealed in Spring this year as it would follow on from the release of Dragonborn, which arrived in December.
The news about Redguard remains sparse, however this has not stopped fans speculating about it online and on Twitter. The publisher of Bethesda Peter Hines did respond to rumours and his answers may not please people.
He said that “We haven’t announced one nor said we are doing one.”
Hines responded to another fan by saying “@LShankley just the three [DLCs] you know of. no other dlc has been announced for skyrim.”
Hines is keeping quiet at the moment about Redguard and the release of it, however this doesn’t mean that we don’t know anything about the upcoming DLC.
Xbox 360: The Official Xbox Magazine was the first to reveal rumours about Redguard release date. They said that Bethesda had called Redguard “downloadable computer game software offered via the Internet and wireless devices.” They said that this was proof enough.
They said that the Redguard release would take players to Hammerfell, which is home to the Redguards who are proud and warlike. They said ” You may already know from playing Skyrim that the Redguards are the fiercest warriors around. They also hate wizards and most types of magic. Xbox Magazine notes that the warrior tribe is “”reportedly skilled in the use of Destruction magic, the latter aren’t big fans of wizards in general — they regard any combat art that doesn’t deal out punishment directly as dangerously effete.”
There are some that are saying that the next Skyrim DLC Redguard release date could be nothing more than just a rumour. They could have just trademarked the name in order to be able to protect it from other companies using it.
However if you look into the history of the release date, each of the trademarked terms, Dragonborn, Dawnguard and Hearthfire, have become a Skyrim DLC soon after trademarking it.
Bethesda has not yet trademarked the rest of the Elder Scrolls races, place names or factions.
Some gamers have been speculating about the release date for Skyrim Redguard. Xbox Magazine says that the location of the expansion could be Dragonstar. This is a city were the Redguards and the Nords live.
“According to the Elder Scrolls wiki, the city is (or at least, was) a hotbed of political contention, chopped up Berlin-Wall-style between the Nords and Redguards in the aftermath of a long-ceased war. Visit the site today (you’ll need access to a PC version and mod tools) and you’ll find only an oddly featureless, geometry-less stretch of land dotted with pine trees. Going on technological insight that I absolutely don’t have, this would seem a good foundation for an add-on: the less extant landscape there is to wrangle with, surely, the easier new assets are to install.
“An expansion set partly or entirely within Dragonstar would be an interesting experience, thanks to the aforesaid rocky local politics, but after playing Dragonborn, I suspect the bulk of the pack may once again take place off-shore. Bethesda’s decision to revisit the isle of Solstheim in the most recent expansion was a stroke of genius… Skyrim’s expansions could serve as a means of publicising the game’s wider universe prior to the launch of the continent-spanning Elder Scrolls Online.”
Fans of Elder Scrolls may remember that the DLC rumoured to be coming out has been linked to a previous title, players of Skyrim will know about that one of the most difficult of enemies to beat was the Ebony Warrior who was a Redguard.
So do you think that the next DLC will be Redguard and will it take place in Dragonstar or Hammerfell?
