While Android smartphones continue to gain marketshare, on the tablet front the Apple iPad still rules supreme. So it comes as no surprise that Google wants to do something about it and no longer have Android tablets be the underdog despite great hardware.
Samsung Google Nexus 7 tablet with HD resolution & Android 5.0 Jellybean (rumors)
Now we’ve been hearing rumors of a 7-inch pure Google Android tablet set to launch around the $150 to $250 range. However what remains under wraps are its specs and a possible release schedule. That may be until now as tech blog ElectricPig reports on recent findings by an Android developer of what may very well be that Nexus Android tablet:
“Adam Green, an Android developer with a credible track record, claims to have uncovered bits of code in Google’s Git Repository that points to the use of Samsung specs. Among the code are references to an Exynos 5250 dual-core processor, a Mali GPU and a S6E8AB0 display with 1280 × 800 resolution.”
The blog goes on to piece that Samsung will be partnering with Google on an Android tablet (tablet and not a phone because of the 1280×800 resolution mentioned). And with Google I/O set to take place on June 27th, they suggest we could see Android 5.0 Jellybean introduced with it (similar to how Android 3.0 Honeycomb debuted on the Motorola Xoom).
Would you be interested in a HD resolution Android 5.0 Jellybean tablet with a Samsung Exynos processor if it sat in the $150-$250 range? Sound off in the comments below.
