Samsung Galaxy S9 In-Display Fingerprint Scanner Still Possible

By  |

We know that smartphone manufacturers have been trying to find ways to integrate the fingerprint sensor into their display. Both Samsung and Apple fail to make that happen this year but it is believed that Samsung might be able to do it next year with their Samsung Galaxy S9.

Samsung submitted an application for a patent involving an in-display fingerprint scanner and now that the patent has been awarded to them, Samsung would be able to move forward with the tech.

Based on the patent, the scanner would be fitted in between the cover glass and on top of the touch sensor. Samsung is also working to implement up to twelve pressure points all over the display so that users don’t have to touch a specific point to get their fingerprint sensor read.

Although this is far from a confirmation that the S9 would come with the new tech it does give fans hope that it might.
