Many people who want a new phone get one based on the reputation of those who make the device. This has been seen with the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the Apple iPhone 5 where their reputation preceded them. As the makers of the two handsets have a good reputation those who own their current models will have already decided to upgrade next year, these of course are rumored to be the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the iPhone 6.
Samsung Galaxy S4 and iPhone 6: you may already have picked your next phone
Of course the names of the next generation handsets are not set in stone, however as they will follow on from the Samsung Galaxy S3 and iPhone 5, it makes sense that they will be the Galaxy S4 and the iPhone 6 (or possible 5S).
Those considering the Samsung Galaxy S4 and iPhone 6 may have an easier time predicting what Samsung may offer than they would with Apple. There have been rumours of what processor will be in the S4 going around since the start of the year and we heard more about this recently, along with specs of the device which the folks over at Product-Reviews pointed out. Details also emerged of a rumoured launch date for the Samsung Galaxy S4 of 25th February at the MWC, along with release of the device in March or April added the blog.
Fans of Apple were shocked when they revealed a new iPad 4 just months after launching their last iPad. This means that no one should underestimate Apple for a release date of the iPhone 6. It is possible that Apple could release a new iPhone only 9 months after the iPhone 6, which would be better than the gap between the iPads of this year, which was 7 months.
There are many reasons why Apple could choose to go back to the event they traditionally chose to launch devices from (WWDC). The second half of the year could be classed as being overcrowded. Apple launched the iPhone 5, iPad Mini, iPad 4 and the iMac 2012 and 13 inch MacBook Pro late in the year. They also made it known that they would like to spread out the launch of devices and this may mean that they could launch the iPhone 6 at the WWDC in 2013.
2013 will be the year when Samsung get a makeover given that they have been a thorn in Apple’s side in 2012. It is interesting to note that just a couple of short years ago, no one would have thought that a smartphone maker could have caught up with Apple. However Samsung have done that in 2012.
Apple might not be ready for the scrapheap just yet though as there will be plenty of fans who will stick by their side. However Samsung do have a following with the Galaxy brand name now. PR asked 22,000 followers on their Facebook page if they would go out and buy the Samsung Galaxy S4 or the iPhone 6. Most of them chose the S4 over the iPhone 6. What happens to be interesting about this is that there is no way of knowing what the specs of the S4 will be, therefore they have chosen the device based solely on the reputation of Samsung and the Galaxy S3. While Apple has a similar thing going for years now as they never have to really list the specs of their device (e.g. the iPhone 5 is “twice as fast” as the 4S).
