There are lots of rumours about the Samsung Galaxy S4 going around, including one that says it’ll be out in February next year, with a 5-inch display and an improved quad-core chip. As well as a whole new look.
Samsung Galaxy S3 rumor mill
The Galaxy S series always comes out ahead of other Galaxy-branded devices year on year, and so it showcases the new tech that Samsung has got going for the year. We’ve seen this with the Samsung Galaxy S, S2 & S3 which came each year before the likes of the Galaxy Note, Note 2, Galaxy Nexus, Mini and so forth. So we may a heads-up about what new technologies Samsung might be revealing when the Samsung Galaxy S4 debuts in 2013.
Droid-Life reckons that Samsung will be joining the 1080p club to compete with the HTC J Butterfly and the like. It’s though that Samsung will start the rollout with a 1080p display with a ppi of 400. The HTC J Butterfly of course has a ppi of 440, with a Snapdragon S4 chip and 2GB of RAM. Samsung will have to pull a big rabbit out of its hat to compete, then. Samsung is rumored to be revealing the Galaxy S4 at MWC 2013 though, so time is on its side.
The 1080p display of the Samsung Galaxy S4 may come with a flexible YOUM screen so this may make up for the lower ppi. Samsung has already confirmed that production of the YOUM screen will early start next year, so these snippets give us two big hints at the specs of the GS4 – even though they’re screen related only.
Design and hardware is still a bit of a mystery but if the Samsung Galaxy S4 does pack this new screen technology and coupled with their usual style of upgrading their processors to be the best in class, then it may just be worth waiting for it. Rumors has it that it will be unveiled in February next year so it isn’t that far along.
