One of the hottest handsets on the market is the Samsung Galaxy S3. This is due to the fast processor and the beautiful 4.8 inch Super AMOLED display for one. The screen is only bettered by the Samsung Galaxy Note with its 5.3 inch of real estate and it runs on an Exynos dual core processor. So if you are considering upgrading to a new device which would you choose? Let’s take a look at both of them.
Samsung Galaxy S3 vs Samsung Galaxy Note
While the screen of the Note is larger than that of the Samsung Galaxy S3 with a lower ppi value than that of the S3, the majority of users would not be able to tell the difference. The Note has the more high end look about it, due to the glossy plastic look of the S3 which makes it appear inferior.
When it comes to processors the Samsung Galaxy S3 comes out on top has it has the newer 1.5GHz Snapdragon dual core processor which is faster. It also has 2GB of RAM in the US and 1GB internationally with a quad core. The S3 is available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB storage options and there is support for micro SD card up to 64GB. The Samsung Galaxy Note is offered in 16GB and 32GB options and it has SD card support for up to another 32GB. With the larger capacity for storage and the new chip, it is the Samsung Galaxy S3 that comes out ahead.
Both devices have Bluetooth and Wi-Fi support and there is support for LTE. The Samsung Galaxy S3 comes with NFC and can be charged wirelessly and it also has S Beam.
In terms of operating systems the Samsung Galaxy S3 comes with ICS and the TouchWiz user interface which includes features such as Smart Stay and S Voice. The Galaxy Note on the other hand has Android 2.3 when shipped but the update to ICS is already trickling out. The Note comes with its stylus apps which are great to use, but it is the S app features on the S3 which may prove to be the more useful in daily use.
The camera on the Samsung Galaxy S3 is 8 megapixels with burst mode and there is zero shutter lag and comes with the same camera sensor used in the iPhone 4S. The Note also has an 8 megapixel camera but it lacks the zero shutter lag of the S3, which also has the burst feature. The battery in the S3 is 2100mAh while the Note comes with a 2500mAh battery which should be the better.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 is the stronger of the devices as it comes with better software. However the Note has the larger screen and it also has the stylus. The S3 does come out on top by a very small margin, but for those who love a large screen and stylus the Note would win out. On the other hand the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is just around the corner (sometime this month) so if you pick the Note, we would suggest you hang on for a few more weeks for the newer model.
