Samsung Galaxy S3 Or iPhone 5: How To Decide

By  |

The Samsung Galaxy S3 has been strong competition for Apple this summer. It boasts a Super AMOLED HD 4.8 inch scree, 4G LTE connectivity and up to 64GB internal storage, as well as a MicroSD card port for additional storage potential. There is an 8MP camera on the back of the device and a 1.9MP camera on the front for video calling, as well as an impressive 2,100 mAh battery. With regards to software, the device has Android 4.0 (ICS) with TouchWiz UI. There are variations of the device in different countries, but in the US, it has a dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 1.5GHz processor with 2GB RAM. Most other countries have 1GB RAM and a quad-core Exynos processor. Android 4.0 has an array of exciting features like S Beam (for transferring files between devices using touch), and S Voice (similar to Apple’s Siri).

As far as the iPhone 5 goes, we can’t be so specific with specs as it hasn’t been officially announced yet, but experts believe it will run Apple’s newest operating system, iOS 6, which has an updated version of Siri, a new Apple Map (as opposed to Google maps on previous iOS) with turn-by-turn navigation, iStore, and more Facebook integration. People also believe that it will have a quad-core A6 1.5 GHz processor and 1GB RAM. It could also have a 4 inch retina 1280×720 pixel resolution screen, NFC and 4G LTE.

Apple may find it tough to compete with the S3 as it has come out a lot earlier, particularly as the S3 is selling like hotcakes and  sales may reach 10 million devices this month alone given the projected pattern. If the purported specs of the iPhone 5 do come true, on a paper it doesn’t look to beat the Samsung Galaxy S3 in any way but more trying to match it.

Wait for iPhone 5 or get the Samsung Galaxy S3?

Based on this, the decision for buyers would actually be very simple. If you don’t like to wait any longer, the Samsung Galaxy S3 is it. And if you can wait then you preference should be iOS or Android. If you have an iPhone at the moment then you will prefer the iPhone 5. If you’re owning any Android phone, then its your lucky day as the S3 is awesome and readily available.
