OK, so the Samsung Galaxy S3 is THE Android phone of the moment, but the HTC One X is still not to be sniffed at. In fact, it may even be better. Shocked? Well, it all depends on how you look at things.
Samsung Galaxy S3 vs HTC One X
The HTC One X will go down in history as HTC’s first quad-core handset, just as the Samsung Galaxy S3 has this honor for Samsung. When both devices launched they had the very latest OS – Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The One X has a slight processor advantage over the S3 – 1.5GHz compared to 1.4GHz – on paper, that is. Benchmark tests tell a different story, but not many regular consumers brave it onto benchmark sites.
Tests showed that the newer chip architecture of the Samsung Galaxy S3 means it has more power than the One X, despite its seemingly undeclocked processor. Most people think that bigger is better, though, and so assume that the One X is the winner.
Both phones have 8MP cameras capable of 1080p HD video, as well as having LED flash and autofocus. HTC promoted the One X camera and claimed it was better than that of the iPhone 4S. Samsung was reticent about the Galaxy S3 camera, which made it – wrongly – seem as if it wasn’t any different than the one inside the S2.
The One X has given the Samsung Galaxy S3 a good run for its money in a lot of ways, and has also been more readily available. It’s also got a better design and looks classier than the plastic-not-so-fantastic S3 that can be mistaken for an entry-level phone.
Both are great phones, though; you can’t go wrong with either.
