Samsung Galaxy S3 Should Forget About Marshmallow As Android 5.0 Lollipop Is Sweet Still

By  |

The Samsung Galaxy S3 has been out for a long time now and it’s old when it comes to technology. Of course this means that owners have come to face the fact that it won’t get updated anymore. This means of course that the handset isn’t going to be getting updated to Android Marshmallow. However owners should not be too upset as they can get the update to Android 5.0 Lollipop.

Before owners rush into installing Android 5.0 Lollipop there are many things that you should think about if you want things to go successfully.

One of the first things that you need to do is to make a backup of your Samsung Galaxy S3 and owners can do this with the NANDROID app. You should also check to ensure that you have custom recovery installed and root access.

When you have done the above you can then go ahead and update your Samsung Galaxy S3 to Android 5.0 Lollipop by following the guide below.

– Download the custom ROM file for Android 5.0 Lollipop, one for your phone and one for your desktop.
– Get the arter 97 kernel as well and unzip it.
– Plug in your S3 to your PC via USB cable.
– Remember the Nandroid backup file. Put it in /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup.
– Disconnect your S3 from the PC and turn it off.
– Go into recovery mode on for your phone.
– Then select “wipe data factory reset”, “wipe cache partition” and “wipe dalvick cache”.
– Select Backup and Restore option, then choose to restore backup so that the Android 5.0 Lollipop gets installed.
– Flash the arter 97 kernel by selecting “install zip from SD card” and proceed to “choose zip from SD card”.

Providing that everything has gone right when you followed the steps above you should now have the Samsung Galaxy S3 running on Android 5.0 Lollipop.
