Samsung Galaxy S3 Or iPhone 5? (It’s Actually Not Up To You)

By  |

If you are among the indecisive and you are in the market for a new handset in the fall, you could be faced with a huge problem as there are numerous devices set for release. Two of the biggest players are of course the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the upcoming iPhone 5.

Decisions: Samsung Galaxy S3 or iPhone 5?

However carrier availability could end up making the choice easier if you are considering the Galaxy S3 from Samsung or the iPhone 5 from Apple. The Samsung Galaxy S3 is available with all the major carriers in the US and Samsung continue to expand outward into the smaller carriers (US Cellular for example). Apple on the other hand is a different story.

With the Apple phone, when it first launches expect demand to overtake supply and hence stock delays. The iPhone 5 will be available on the top three carriers, AT&T, Sprint and Verizon, when it is released, while chances of T-Mobile having it very slim.

AT&T along with Verizon have put bans on employees taking holidays during 21st to 30th September and this typically indicates that a huge product launch is taking place. This would fit right in with rumors of the launch of the new iPhone 5. Sprint has dropped the handset price of the 4S which is another sign that the latest model is on its way. T-Mobile will not have the handset when it is launched as the device is not compatible with their network and employees have been told to sell against the iPhone 5 in the future.

However you can use an unlocked iPhone 5 on T-Mobile, but you will have to make do with EDGE speeds for the moment. Thanks to the three big carriers, US Cellular will be in the shadows and many of the other smaller carrier will be put off due to the fact that Apple have higher subsidies on their devices.

There is no doubt that the iPhone 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S3 can go head to head, but which of the two devices you choose may not be just down to which model has the best specs, but which is available on your carrier.

Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Nintendo Wii, PC, iPhone and Android games keep Berke busy at work all day. Honestly though we’re not sure why we’re paying him as it should be the other way around.
